My Eyes!
Sunday a week ago (10 days past?) I decided to build an airplane again, the first time in 12 years or so. Before I could build an airplane, I had to get some airplane-building supplies.
Those are hard to find these days, in the Atlanta area where I am temporarily exiled/welcomed. Snellville has a pretty good hobby shop, but it seems to be oriented more towards the RC than the FF people. For instance; they don't have any small sizes of the balsa, and what they do have is grossly dense. (Like, > 8lb/ft^3.)
I tried the local Hobby Lobby, and let me tell you, that place is one evil den of Gurl Cooties! There is very little in that place having to do with making flying things or model railroads. They did have some balsa, though, some of which I reluctantly bought after examining every scrap and splinter they had. Yes, it was all mostly horrible, but I got some quarter-sawn that was not completely horrible. (But still pretty bad, by 1959 standards.)
Oh, and ask to buy dope, and people think you want drugs! Argghhh!
Hoping to make something to fly, I talked the Sweety into driving us over to the Duluth area, where there was a purported real hobby shop. It was a little bit better, though also oriented toward the toy-players over the builders. They had a Peck ROG kit. I bought it. Shuddup.
I need to build up my skills again, from zero.
Then I needed a building board. Went around and around 'till I found a small bulletin board at the Wal-Mart.
I noticed, while trying to build this airplane back on the 8th of Jan., that I can no longer see well enough, without optical help, to cut and glue itty bitty airplane parts.
I tellya, it's hell getting old.

Congratulations for joining the crowd!
Although, did I just miss the Castle memo on this way a while back? *feeling like an idiot for not realizing you were blogging*
Sounds like a good place to use one of those magnifying lamps, JTG. Just remember that the getting older sh*t is still better than te alternative.
Don't feel bad, Fuzzy one, he was hiding under the radar, and intercepted the official memo before the Denizens could read it ;-) And now it's gonna get gurl cooties all over it ...
