Yay! I haz Webz naow! (again)

Well, it seems the modem in the Ubuntu box was working right, all along. Having no manual for the thing, I confused the meaning of the symbols next to the modular phone-plug sockets on the thing. It dialled right up when I corrected that.

Yup, I had been putting it in the wrong hole.
