Skippy Has a Blog

Yes, _that_ Skippy, of the List. Here: http://skippyslist.com/list/

I've wasted most of the day perusing it, and comments, going back half a year or so. One can learn many interesting things there, such as that a frozen cabbage leaf is a good anodyne for sore titties from nursing one's kids. (Skippy et ux. have had twins recently, and some of the female commenters have been sending in tips on how best to handle that.) Sadly, fatherhood seems to be making our Skippy act like a responsible grownup. He's staying home and attending school online while changing diapers etc. while the more-employable wife brings home the bacon.

In other news, I found a delightful site which includes the autobiography of Admiral Sir Percy Scott, who almost single-handedly dragged the Royal Navy kicking and screaming into the 20th Century, and none too soon; Jutland was a more near-run thing than was thought at the time.

You know those firefighting hoods with air supplied by a hose which the submariners use? Scott invented them in 1882!

In even further news, I attended divine services this evening and was issued my palm leaf. I did not need to wear earplugs, as the sound system was busted, and I had nothing to do with that and don't even own a fire axe. We had to do the whole thing a capella. I surprised myself by remembering the liturgy pretty well. Pastor said when handing me the Host, something like "Got yer wish, heh?"
