Kindness to Animals, with High Explosives

I was reading on the Web somewhere recently about killing animals and eating their flesh, when I was beminded of some passages in Professor Temple Grandin's most excellent book (Animals in Translation), in which she discusses sensations of pain in the lower animals.

She decided, and I believe her, that fish feel pain just as we do, and that it is cruel to drag them around by cruel barbed hooks in their mouths and have them expire slowly and painfully up above the Surface!

Far kinder would it be, to send them out with one short, sharp, shock wave! They won't feel a thing!

High explosives are obviously the best way to get fish to eat.

Yes, it is indeed late at night, and I have been drinking. What makes you silly kids ask those kinds of questions? Have a beer, shuddup, and listen to me talk!

Soc, have you been drinking? Yah, I know, stupid question.

Oh, .22s at the most for Wabbits. A good air rifle will do nicely for your average bunny without spoiling very much of the yummy meat.

P.s. There are, or at least there were here until recently, a coupla very cute tame bunnies belonging to a nice family who live about four houses away on this street. I had some pleasant interactions with those bunnies late at night while walking home with some beer.

Lately, I noticed that there was then only one bunny, and later, no bunnies at all. We do have coyotes and bobcats and suchlike animals around here.

My aged cat is still alive, though, and insists on staying outdoors, except for meals. I think he's 16 years old, or so.

Update: The bunnies are still here, they just hide from time to time.
